Property Tax Collection

The Village Clerk-Treasurer, as Receiver of Taxes, collects Village Taxes only. The tax bills are mailed out at the end of April by Jefferson County and property owners have the entire month of June to pay without penalty. Bills paid after the due date are subject to late payment penalties. If you have not received you tax bill by June 1st, please contact the Village Office.
- Village Taxes can be paid in-person or by mail. Please include the Tax Payment Stub.
- Village Taxes are due Starting June 1st, 2023.
- For additional taxing information, such as tax rolls, tax rates, or tax exemptions, for which residents may be eligible in order to reduce the taxes levied against their property, please contact the Town of LeRay Assessor.
PAYMENT INFORMATION

5% - July
6% - August
7% - September
8% - October
All unpaid taxes after sent back to Jefferson County after November 1st, 2023. Please contact Jefferson County Treasurer at 175 Arsenal Street Watertown NY. At that time, all payments must be made with the County Treasurer. The Village Clerk-Treasurer will no longer accept tax payments.
An Installment Payment Process is offered by the Village. The details and the amounts are listed on the individual bills. Installment payments must be made by the following dates to the Village Clerk-Treasurer, using the same methods as listed above:
First Installment June 30
Second Installment August 31

6% - August
7% - September
8% - October

- If the property owner chooses to mail in payment, the envelope must be postmarked by the United States Postal Service dated before/on June 30th. Any payment postmarked beyond the due date incurs a payment penalty.
