The Village of Evans Mills Code Enforcement Department ensures the safety, health, and overall quality of life within our community. The department enforces New York State Building and Fire Codes, as well as local village laws and ordinances.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and issuing building permits

• Conducting inspections for construction, renovations, and property maintenance

• Enforcing zoning, property maintenance, and housing standards

• Investigating complaints regarding unsafe or non-compliant properties

• Working with residents and property owners to achieve compliance

Permits & Approvals

Permits are issued only for properties located within the Village of Evans Mills. Common permits include:

• New construction or additions

• Renovations and alterations

• Decks, fences, and sheds

• Demolition

• Signage

• Certificates of Occupancy

 

Important Note:

• Permit approvals may take up to 30 days. Residents should not expect approval in fewer than 5 business days.

• Residents are encouraged to contact the CEO before beginning any project to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and ordinances.

Submitting a Complaint or Concern

If you notice unsafe conditions, property maintenance concerns, or potential code violations, you may contact the Code Enforcement Officer. All complaints are addressed professionally and confidentially.

Office Hours & Availability

The Village of Evans Mills Code Enforcement Officer (CEO) is a part-time, as-needed employee and does not maintain regular office hours.

• Appointments and inspections are scheduled as needed.

• Residents should contact the Village Office or email the CEO to arrange inspections, permit reviews, or to report concerns.
